Area Information

Lake Almanor is located where the Sierras meet the Cascades. It is approximately 120 miles northwest of Reno and 240 miles north of San Francisco. It has 52 miles of shore line and stunning views of Mount Lassen. Known as the Trophy Fish Lake, fishing is excellent year round. Rainbow and brown trout, large and small mouth bass, landlocked Chinook Salmon (stocked), and catfish abound. In the summer months, water-skiing, sailing, kayaking, parasailing, and other watersports are popular. The elevation is 4,500 feet, which makes for an average summer daytime temperature in the eighties and cool nights in the fifties. The lake has a water-surface temperature of 75 degrees. The area is also a paradise for bird watchers. Osprey, bald eagles, mountain quail, and many species of waterfowl make the lake their home.

Lassen Volcanic National Park, which has been described as "the undiscovered gem of national parks," is approximately 30 minutes away. And, for those of you with a venturesome streak, the casino and restaurants at Diamond Mountain in Susanville are a mere half hour ride away. So don't forget your camera, and come enjoy all the beauty and excitement that Lake Almanor and Lassen Forest has to offer.
